We live in a big strata community development and we had our bi-monthly barbeque yesterday. Everyone was talking about Alan Jones' comment in relation to Julia Gillard's father dying of shame.

I have heard some really bad things from the mouths of the shock jocks but that just about takes the cake for me. How dare he think he has the right to speak about anyone like that. I am not the labour party's biggest fan, but quite frankly I think Julia Gillard does a terrific job considering the mammoth obstacles that challenge her every day. Attacking her politics is one thing but attacking her personally is another thing altogether.

To love your father that much and to still be mourning his death is hard enough, but guaranteed, Mr Gillard was extremely proud of his daughter and everything she has achieved. Dirt bags like Alan Jones have had their day. I love 2GB but unless he is taken off air, I will never listen to the station again. Let's see how loyal his listeners are now. Sure, there will be some who don't care but for anyone who has lost a much loved parent, his comment has touched all of us.

Some are saying that because he was at a private function, it shouldn't matter but his comments have now been far-reaching and everyone knows what he said. On behalf of everyone who has lost a parent, I would like to extend a huge apology to Julia Gillard on behalf of everyone who listens to that foul-mouthed creature every day. He has lost me and I daresay I am not the only one.

I know there are a few journalists on this site. Would love to know what you think.

Hi Jenny,

I am told Alan Jones has cost a number of prominent people their jobs over the years because of his endless personal criticism of them. Not that I listen to Alan Jones, but I am wondering if he has developed a physiological problem. I actually hate 2GB as I cannot stand the rubbish of talk back radio. I like living in a democracy, but free speech surely does not mean you forget about decency. Alan Jones as we know has run for political positions, but has never been successful.

I have found a use for Alan Jones; I have set my clock radio alarm to 2GB. When it goes off in the morning I immediately have to get out of bed to turn the alarm off. Thanks Alan for making sure this old fellow gets up early.

Cindy - owner of this site use to be on the Real Estate Show on 2GB every Saturday and Sunday. I remember the first series of The Block in Roscoe Street Bondi and she was there every Saturday and reported on the show every weekend. She was constantly getting her knuckles rapped because she kept letting the cat out of the bag about what was going to happen on the show on the Sunday night. It was very funny! There was always someone in the background from Channel 9 yelling at her to tell her what she could and couldn't say. She was just so funny and never said a bad word about anyone. I think that was before Alan Jones left 2UE to go to 2GB.

Alan Jones simply doesn't think before he speaks. He loves being controversial but I totally agree that his comments about the Prime Minister's father were despicable. How proud must her father have been of his daughter. And how dare Jones take that away from her. We might not all agree with the politics but the country is right behind her over this idiot's foul mouth.

And that foul-mouthed pig's ego is so huge that he can't understand why Ms Gillard won't accept his apology and take his call. Who the hell does he think he is? He is lying in the gutter and beneath her recognition. Stay where you are Jones and don't rear your ugly mug again. In fact, put a paper bag over your face and KEEP AUSTRALIA BEAUTIFUL!!

I really said and wrote the wrong thing to AJ several months ago by email. I sent an email saying the sooner his prostrate takes him to the other side the better. I think many of us can say the wrong thing from time to time. I regret I made the above statement. However, AJ is so full of himself I feel he has little regret about anything.
